LINEMAN Technology Development

AYASE Line Generator (LINEMAN) is an innovative laser line module integrated with a semiconductor laser and Ayase's high precision molded lens. Our patented molding technology enables LINEMAN to output repeatable and uniform lines and minimize line variations, unlike the conventional Powell lenses. AYASE offers these great technologies in an ultra compact package with housings as small as 6.5mm diameter.

Good Repeatability

Below is an illustration on how our molded lens functions.

The Powell lens has a steep protrusion where the laser light enters and the surrounding curved area affects the uniformity of the line. This surrounding area (a) is commonly polished by human hands and this can cause line variations and inconsistency.

On the other hand, the LINEMAN lens is produced using our molding technology and has a very gentle curve which makes the line uniform and repeatable, unlike handmade Powell lens.

Good Uniformity

Powell lens are commonly used in many line generator modules. The shape of the Powell lens are often determined using the approximation of the 2nd degree of a polynomial. The technology used in Powell lens tends to create strong beam distribution on both ends, and if attempted to even out the beam by suppressing the end strength, it creates a dip in the center (see diagram 1). As one can see, it is theoretically impossible to create a perfectly uniformed line using Powell lens due to the approximation. In addition to this theory, there are other negative factors to consider such as inconsistency of laser beam angle and shape of lens. In conclusion, this causes even more inconsistency in production and decrease in production yield rate.

On the other hand, LINEMAN lens is produced without numeral integration. Theoretically, the LINEMAN lens technology can produce 100% flat, top-hat beam strength (see diagram 2) and eliminate inconsistency and increase the production yield rate.

Small Package

AYASE offers the industries' smallest φ6.5mm package on Line generation module using our unique assembly technology, even though the φ18mm package is commonly offered by most manufacturers. This unique packaging process was developed to offer not only the smallest package but also support for the heat release issue which is commonly problematic in many line generation modules. AYASE also offers φ8ｍｍ package for high power lasers and we will continue to seek for new technology to follow the trend of miniaturization.

AYASE's compact package can be integrated with APC circuit and TTL signal input circuit.
